Asian Arts at its best - working with Manasamitra
I've been commissioned by Yorkshire-based arts group Manasamitra many times now, and it's always a pleasure to work with the team there.
From dance projects through to performance pieces in stunning venues, they're a photographer's delight!
I first worked with them on a dance project - Rudra, performed in York Minster. A mesmerising performance. You can see more pics and read about the project here:
I've also worked with the team at a project in Grimsby Minster, where I got to see musical genius Shri Sriram in action for the first time. I've since worked with Shri on a number of his own projects including shooting at the London and Huddersfield Jazz Festivals.
The group came together for another performance in York Minster's Chapter House - the perfect setting
and most recently, Manasamitra's Artistic Director, Supriya Nagarajan, fused the songs of Bollywood, with a group of jazz musicians. The project, aptly titled Bollywood Jazz, toured several venues, and I was commissioned to take the band's promo pictures, and to record the atmosphere of one of their performances.
The promo pictures featured in press and online articles, and also provided the backdrop to when the group were interviewed on the BBC.
Manasamitra are constantly innovating and you can read more about them here
